It is no secret that we are in an unprecedented time, this pandemic has changed the world as we know it. With the continued threat of Covid-19, our first priority is the health and safety of our team, supporters and community. After much deliberation and feedback, we have decided to cancel the Arkansas Climate Accord and Symposium events, set for Oct. 2 and 3.
We have good news!
The League is shifting to connecting Arkansans together throughout the remainder of 2020 via several interactive online gatherings in continuation of this year’s theme of “Local Stories, Community Solutions”.
We're excited to invite you to the first of these series of events, "Enviro-Justice: A Conversation About Building Community". Watch this video announcement from Board Chair Soniyyah “Sonna” Bkey and see below for more info:
Enviro-Justice Primer: A Conversation About Building Community
League Board Chair Sonna Bkey will be leading introduction to environmental justice from 7-8 p.m. Sept. 14 via Zoom.
As the climate crisis continues, we are regularly dealing with natural and social disasters that first and most heavily affect marginalized communities and people of color. This online workshop will give an overview of the history of the environmental justice movement, and a look at practical tools and techniques that we can use to help us better engage environmental justice issues.
Sonna has presented on diversity and inclusion at regional and national climate conferences.
The event is free though donations are welcome and make educational events like this possible. More details on event registration soon! Your suggestions and feedback are always welcome as we continue to plan virtual events for this year and potentially beyond. You can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or text (479) 244-2865.
