We're thrilled to announce that Shelley Buonaiuto, a League Advisory Board member, has been selected to join the Transition US Collaborative Design Council!

Many League friends know Shelley as co-founder of Fayetteville Citizen's Climate Lobby, as a social justice advocate and a talented artist. We love her commitment and adventurous spirit!

Here's what she has to say about joining Transitions US: "Transitions US is based on redesigning our economy and political system on the same principles of permaculture, recognizing our interdependence with nature. While continuing to work with CCL, and with Racial Equity and Social Justice issues, I think it’s valuable to share my CCL experiences with this group, and learn what I can about concepts of new societal design."

Transition US is a nonprofit organization that provides inspiration, encouragement, support, networking, and training for Transition Initiatives across the United States. They also work in close partnership with the Transition Network, a UK based organization that supports the international Transition Movement as a whole.

"The Transition Movement is a vibrant, grassroots movement that seeks to build community resilience in the face of such challenges as peak oil, climate change and the economic crisis. It represents one of the most promising ways of engaging people in strengthening their communities against the effects of these challenges, resulting in a life that is more abundant, fulfilling, equitable and socially connected," according to their website,
